Since December 2004, the Mission Society has worked with the congregation to provide clothes, toys and food baskets for member of the community during the holiday season; provided meals to the residents of A Friend’s House (local shelter for abandoned, abused and neglected Henry County youth); provided personal hygiene/toiletries to residents of the Cornerstone Nursing Home; supported the Miles for Meals and the March of Dimes walk-a-thons; volunteered during Hurricane Katrina relief efforts in Henry County; adopted a family for Christmas in 2005 and provided financial assistance to church/community members.
The Mission Society continues to provide meals to the residents of A Friend’s House monthly. Other ongoing efforts include sending cards to the sick, shut in and elderly members and neighbors as well as providing basic/fundamental assistance to these individuals upon request. The Mission Society is also working with the youth of Shiloh to engage them in missionary work. A missions curriculum will be developed to teach youth and prepare them for community involvement and foreign mission.
It is our position that each ministry/member of Shiloh be a vital branch of the Mission Society. To find out how you can become a part of the Mission Society, contact the Rev. Aliska Smith at 770.315.2195.
