The Deacons at Shiloh are a group of servants who are selected to support Pastor Lee, other ministries, church staff and the community. They are assigned the tasks of assisting with the church ordinances of baptism and communion, as well as ministering to individual members who are in need. You will often find faithful deacons visiting the sick, encouraging those in distress and comforting the bereaved.
Currently, the deacons are involved in a pilot program at Shiloh called the Family Plan. This is a new project designed to facilitate the call to minister to the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of church families as a whole. The goal of the Family Plan is to structure a systematic method of assigning a deacon/deaconess team to a cluster of families to keep in touch with. Essentially, the families have their own ‘personal’ deacon/deaconess to call on for various needs while enjoying membership at Shiloh. As a result of the Family Plan, the deacons hope to help families bring unsaved family members to Christ, provide families with a support group in dealing with crises and offer a caring atmosphere that will strengthen the entire congregation.
The Deacons Ministry is expanding its service and is currently planning an aggressive agenda to work with the youth of the church. They are developing an internship program where they will partner with a child/young adult protégé who they will mentor and offer guidance to. The deacons will work with them to prepare them for adulthood and leadership in the church.
